NIHR Commences Observing the 2022 Elections at the Electoral Headquarters of the Permanent Mission of Bahrain in Geneva

With the launch of the 2022 parliamentary elections in the diplomatic headquarters of the Kingdom of Bahrain abroad, the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), being one of the independent national mechanisms participating in the monitoring of the 2022 parliamentary and municipal elections, began monitoring the electoral headquarters at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Geneva to ensure the smooth procedures and good implementation, where Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the NIHR, and Chancellor Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR’s Secretary-General, supervised the voting process at the headquarters located within the Mission, on the sidelines of the participation of the NIHR delegation in the 41st session of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review in Geneva.

On this occasion, Al-Derazi stated that the NIHR has a technical team to carry out the oversight and monitoring of the election process, and that all observations and recommendations will be included in a special report that will be issued and made available to everyone later, noting at the same time that the electoral process at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Geneva took place amid transparent procedures and within the framework of compliance with the legislation related to the elections.  The NIHR delegation also casted their votes at the Mission headquarters.
